STEPHANIE ANDERSON

DIRECTOR, TEACHER, ACTOR

Stephanie Anderson a New York-based director, actor and teaching artist with a particular love for improv, new work, and accessibility.  

Stephanie was born in Venezuela, grew up in Spain, got her BA in Theatre Performance in Ohio, taught theatre in China, and then moved to New York to eat tacos and get her MA in Educational Theatre from NYU. 

You know, a classic tale. 

Stephanie spent five years teaching theatre at a public high school in Beijing, China, where she built a theatre program from scratch, developing multi-level curricula, training student leaders, and producing, designing and directing over a dozen showcases and productions.  An active member of Beijing Improv, she also performed regularly and led bilingual improv workshops.  

In New York, Stephanie has taught musical theatre, improv and devising through NYU Looking for Shakespeare, Opening Act, Ping Chong + Company, Story Pirates, TADA! Youth Theatre, and The Leadership Program.  She can also be seen directing, house managing, and acting with Verbatim Performance Lab.

Stephanie is currently the full-time Middle School drama teacher at Dwight-Englwood School where she teaches, directs, and mentors student leaders in technical theatre.
